- **Event Description**: Two Fathers is a witty and touching play written by Sundar Sarukkai that explores the challenges of parenting faced by two of the 20th century’s greats: Mahatma Gandhi and Albert Einstein. The play shines a light on their roles as guilt-ridden fathers.  Through imaginary meetings between Gandhi and Einstein's daughter (whom Einstein never met) and Einstein and Gandhi's eldest son, Harilal (with whom Gandhi had a stormy relationship), the play attempts to bring closure to the deep misunderstandings between the famous fathers and their children. The play seeks to portray the fathers' complex feelings through drama, laughter, and satire. Though poignant in many parts, the play is interspersed with plenty of laughs!   About the artists  Theatre group: Kalasuruchi Kalasuruchi, a cultural organisation in Mysore, has been active in theatre, music, and science activities for the past 35 years. For the past five years, it has produced at least one English play every year. Hard Places, Chandalika, Comrade Babble, Free Outgoing, The Prophet and the Poet, and Stifled are some of Kalasuruchi’s English productions. Playwright: Dr Sundar Sarukkai Sundar Sarukkai, trained in physics and philosophy, has a PhD from Purdue University, USA. He has been a Homi Bhabha Fellow, Fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies at Shimla, and a PHISPC Associate Fellow. He was at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru, from 1994 to 2009, and was the Director of the Manipal Centre for Philosophy & Humanities, Manipal University. He is the author of the following books: Translating the World: Science and Language, Philosophy of Symmetry, Indian Philosophy, and Philosophy of Science. Director: Badrinarayan Badrinarayan is an author and actor. He has a background in IT services management and enjoys theater and the arts.
